Watching Yoga Videos

Yoga used to be the kind of thing someone's eccentric aunt did - a woman with a braid wrapped around her head who entertained the children, put your foot behind your head. I tried screening three different videos in one day when my neck and shoulders jeans tighter than last year. Nodes was the size of Rhode Island, who was there for weeks. Yoga Jane Fonda exercise (a vision) relaxed them. Kathy Smith's New Yoga (BodyVision) heated. Three hours later, after falling under the spell of soothing Unworkout south actress Dixie Carter's (MCA Universal), which was dissolved. Here's how it was: an all-natural Jane Fonda appeared in a set that looks like a rocky moonscape, normal wear red tights and socks, and wearing a French braid to her hips. (This is an extension of the hair, but what do we care.) She demonstrated the classic treatment of sun, a choreographed routine of yoga traditionally used to greet the day, Ted Turner's huge diamonds glittering in the spotlight. Then we were asked to join her in a warm-up at different stages of the Sun Salutation, and a segment of relaxation and awareness of breathing, 60 minutes after all. Yoga is slow, I decided, slow enough that I had time to discuss the webs between the toes and the bandages on the carpet while holding each pose. While almost standing on my head, I meditated on the deeper states of Jane's: In case of doubt, breathe. After the relaxation segment, my thoughts go to his final message: I am relaxed, and I will take with me this feeling. He said the company would help me stretch, tone and strengthen my body. At that moment I felt lethargic, noodles, ready for lunch. The nodes are still there. Kathy Smith also appeared in a red leotard and socks and pushed me to do the workout on an empty stomach, preferably before dinner. He has worked with Rod Stryker, yoga instructor to the stars, to update the old disciplines and merge them into a workout for fitness enthusiasts. Kathy stood on a raised stand as you have brought a sportier version of the sun salutation, a half dozen other postures and meditation, 60 minutes total. The great thing about yoga, I am learning, both big names attached to each year: the underdog, the cobra, the shaft.
